Spencer's Make A Wish Party

Last night was a long anticipated night at our house.  Spencer's wish grantor's arrived at 7pm to have a small "send off" party for him.  We don't actually leave until Wednesday, but they do this a few days ahead of time to make sure that the wish child and their family gets all the information on time.  We didn't tell Spencer ahead of time that he was having a party.  We had decided that could just be one more small surprise for him, in a long line of many to come!  We did tell the older kids, and they were just as excited for him.  They all sat in the living room peeking out the window waiting for the volunteers to show up.  They arrived right on time, bearing chocolate cake and Doritos!

Spencer checking out his chocolate cake....mmm, his favorite!

They also brought Spencer a goodie bag with lots of toys, a personal card from one "M. Mouse"  letting him know that he can't wait to see him, a Make A Wish t-shirt and button, and lots of all around good cheer and happiness!

Spencer had to try his wish shirt on right away and wore it until bedtime.  I think he was more excited about the shirt than he was anything else in his package!  He loved it!

We were also given more information regarding the details of the trip.  We found out that they are providing us transportation to and from the airport in a Limo!  To be honest, I'm a little stoked about this myself.  I've never ridden in one!  My husband has, but it wasn't a stretch limo.  (Who knew there was any other kind????  If it's not a stretch, it's just another fancy car right?) Although everyone was kind of hoping for a limo, we didn't tell the kids yet that Spencer gets one.  I think that is one aspect of the wish that all of the kids will be blown away by.

We also had been thinking about other things we wanted to do on this trip to make it unique and special for Spencer.  However we had to wait until last night to find out how much the expense check that Make A Wish provides was going to be, before we could see how everything worked into our budget.  I think it would be very accurate to say that we were blown away with their generosity; and it looks like we will get to do everything on our list!  They even gave all of the kids spending money of their own!  Spencer is most excited about Seaworld.  Today I will be booking "Dine with Shamu" which is an interactive dinner beside the Killer Whale tank.  I'm not sure how much eating Spencer will get done, but I think he will  be beside himself with happiness!  We also plan to book a ride on a Boggy Creek Swampboat Tour.  (Those big boats that have the gigantic fans on the back of them.)  I'm pretty sure he would think that was over the moon.  (I'm also pretty sure that we are going to need plenty of sunscreen for that adventure!)  Once we get to Give Kids the World, we plan to try to get seats at the Pirate Dinner Show for one night of our stay.  (They offer discounted tickets through GKTW.)  We also hope to do another dinner at Margaritaville, which is located between Universal Studios and Universal Islands of Adventure at Citywalk.  And finally trips to Aquatica (Seaworld's waterpark), and either a trip to Disney's Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon.  And of course we will be doing a little bit of visiting with The Mouse while we are there!  On top of all of that, they were so generous that we might just be able to fit a few more things in there.  It is amazing the things that they have done for Spencer!

I could go on and on, and as you read this, we probably are doing just that in our house.  Everyone is excited...most of all Spencer.  I will probably have to "hide" the Make A Wish shirt just to make sure it's clean Wednesday morning.  We've got bags to pack, boarding passes to print, reservations to make, and so many surprises in store for Spencer.  (And, I repeat, a limo ride.....I did tell you that part, didn't I????  Make that TWO limo rides.  Just in case I don't take enough pictures the first time.  As if...)

Four more sleeps.  That's FOREVER when you are talking Wish trips.
